ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) Bath Tubs/Showers

ABS acrylonitrile-butadiene-styreneABS is a very tough plastic that is used to make some bath products for RV’s, mobile homes, and commercial uses. ABS is also used to make shower walls when the bathtub might be acrylic, gel coat, or other material.

Because ABS plastic is nonporous and slick, it is not conducive to paint adhesion. If you plan to paint or perform a repair on an ABS bathtub, condition the plastic to promote adhesion, or you will end up with chipping and peeling soon after application.

Also use a specific kind of paint that can remain durable in the face of repeated water exposure. It has lower gloss and chemical resistance, but our Quick Glaze system can be used for repair.
